Claude Moniquet getuigt over radicale moslimjeugd voor het VS-Huis van Afgevaardigden

De Franse Belg Claude Moniquet is oprichter en directeur-generaal van de European Strategic Intelligence and Security Center. Op 27 april 2005 gaf hij op uitnodiging van de sub-commissie “Europe and Emerging threats” van het Amerikaanse Huis van Afgevaardigden zijn visie op de radicalisering van moslimse jongeren in Europa.

Moniquet schetst in zijn voordracht voor de commissie The radicalisation of Muslim youth in Europe een pessimistisch beeld van de nieuwe generaties moslimse jongeren. Die kampen met grote integratieproblemen. Velen kunnen zich nauwelijks identificeren met Westerse waarden en vormen een makkelijke prooi voor islamitische radicalen.

Recruits come from the “third generation” of immigration, who we know has identity problems and feels itself the victim of imperfect integration. These problems can push many young people towards violence. We are then confronted with a new situation where diffuse and informal networks of young people who were born in Europe, who know it well and who have scores to settle, could serve as a relay to more structured international organizations, or even try to lead its own “jihad” to take revenge for the real or supposed humiliations felt by these young people.

In Moniquet’s visie is het niet langer de vraag of een tragedie zal plaatsvinden, maar wanneer.
